How do I brighten the illumination of my separate AC and Radio?

The illumination of the AC and radio are both washed out in daylight.  They are separate units and are not connected to the regular dashboard dimmer.  At night the are fine but the lights seem to turn off   during the day and the separate screens are unreadable.
